I sat on the table with the two booklets I've picked for the night: The Story of the Puritans by Erroll Hulse and an illustrated concise booklet of The Pilgrim's Progress. That was last Saturday and it was one of the best yet for the past year. I spent the whole evening gently wading through words. It was really precious and I wish it could always be like that. Saturdays are always scheduled with events--not that I don't enjoy meeting friends and doing ministry but I'd enjoy to have all Saturday evenings burying my nose on a book, journeying with words and getting lost in different periods of time or landing in another world.

The Story of the Puritans is a good introduction if you're interested in exploring the faith of our fathers. It's amazing how God has preserved them so we can receive the faith we have today.
