Some songs just really stick in your mind once you listen to it and Indescribable is one.
It’s one of the best songs ever written to describe God… but well it failed to describe God because the words of man cannot fully give enough description to describe Him. When we think of something as His attribute, we write it down and then another comes to mind, and another comes until we exhaust ourselves of attributes. He is truly indescribable. Uncontainable. It’s way beyond our comprehension why He, God and Creator of all things, perfect and unblemished, powerful and glorious chose to love us.
Laura Story did a great job of writing the song and Chris Tomlin just sings it really well.
The song always comes back to mind and is always stuck when it does come.
If you haven’t heard of the song yet, well you better check it out! Here’s a video:
And here are the lyrics:
INDESCRIBABLE
written by Laura Story
as performed by Chris Tomlin
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation’s revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
All powerful, untameable,
Awestruck we fall to our knees as we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable,
You placed the stars in the sky and You know them by name.
You are amazing God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same
You are amazing God
You are amazing God

I agree. That song really describes how indescribable God is. (Okay, I got confused, that was kinda ironic.)
