Yiruma

It was three years ago when I first heard of the Korean pianist Yiruma. I remember having a conversational English session then with my Korean student Michelle. Our conversation from Korean dramas shifted to piano and she highly recommended Yiruma.

Yiruma's really good. I like the quietness of his nature when he plays. No bravado. It's as if it's just him and his piano. His pieces can be heard often in Korean dramas especially that of the Endless Love Four Seasons series. I only have to frown now because I just learned that they used River Flows In You in Twilight! Twilight is a poor movie to put Yiruma's music in. It degrades Yiruma's quality piano playing for poignant Korean dramas.

*sigh* I guess I would just have to deal with it as I learn how to play it. ;) Yeah, I'm no piano player but I try to play pieces that I know or would want to learn. Canon in D Major is all I've ever known for the past years... time to move on with it! :D

It is so unfortunate that "River Flows in You" was used in Twilight, particularly as Edward's lullaby for Bella. No wonder why it became famous.

Anyway, I just sent over the music piece.. All I can say is 'good-luck'. Hehe! It's not really too hard to play since the whole thing has repetitions. The challenge is in the syncopated part that makes the music nice. ;)

Hey girl! After some searching around the net, River Flows In You isn't really in Twilight. Fans just got it mixed up with Carter Bushwell's Lullaby... pero still the fans prefer Yiruma's... pero naman! I'm glad that after all River Flows In You is not in Twilight. It's too beautiful for just a vampire movie.

This is going to be hard!!! I'll have Mawi or you coach me in the syncopated parts. I can do the first two measures already but not that good. :)

My word, and half the world seems to think Yiruma's piece is from Twilight! Cellphone ringtones entitled Bella's Lullaby is "River Flows in You" and a lot of internet music sites.

Did the photocopying machine copy my guide [division of notes] in the most complicated part of the piece?

Don't worry, I'll be happy to help you out. There's nothing like the accomplishment of playing a music piece one likes. Hehe!

I think Twilight fans are desperate to connect whatever they see to their beloved novel. (Forgive the sarcasm.) That's why, when they see or hear something that reminds of Twilight, they are quick to associate it to the movie and the books. *sigh* What the world lacks is appreciation for real literature. :)
